Throughout my life education has always played a big part. When I was a young child I attended a Pestalozzi style school in The Netherlands, and in my teenage years I was homeschooled. My homeschooling years were very formative. It was a period in my life where I had a great level of freedom to pursue, and be supported in pursuing, a wide variety of interests. Most notably; music. I started playing guitar at fourteen and spent hours on end practicing every day, eventually I built my own electric guitar, played in various gigging bands, and attended an intensive jazz course. For the past five years I have been working as a music teacher both privately and at schools. First at Tamilla, a small democratic school in southern Spain, and now at Bina Cita Utama in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia.
