My approach
I focus on structured conversation lessons and writing, since producing the language is the main aim. Reading, covering a wide range of topics, is necessary to support speaking and writing and to learn new words, depending on how much time you have. Not having an extensive vocabulary is a big problem... grammar mistakes can usually be got around, but if you don’t have the words you are in trouble.
From my wide life experience I can cover very many topics. Living in Greece and two terms on ISC (Tapes Officer) and WSC (Z4 Rep -24 countries) have given me wide experience with different cultures.

Note that I don't teach total beginners... Please see Harina's profile
Teaching English
The English language has been a great love of mine since my early teens... lots of reading, which has given me a very big vocabulary.

I started teaching English upon marrying Harina and moving to Greece, while simultaneously pioneering Psychometric Aptitude Testing for careers guidance.
For over 3 decades I have taught general competence for adults and preparation for B1 to C2 Cambridge and Michigan exams and for IELTS and TOEFL.
For more than 20 years I have been a Speaking Test Examiner, which requires annual certification by the British Council.

I have also taught Business English in major companies such as Elinoil, Medicon and the food giant Delhaize.
About me
I was equally good at English and Science but hated school. I left at 16 to do 5 years paid training in electronics, subsequently getting a position writing manuals for complex measuring and Xray equipment.

Being more interested in people than things I used my qualification in electronics to transition to psychology, taking a degree in brain science at Sussex University.

After a spell as an occupational psychologist for the UK Gov I felt that enterprise was my thing and formed a creative agency as a copywriter (The Dovetail Partnership) with talented graphic designer Marcus Bolt.

Living in Greece and two terms on ISC (Tapes Officer) and WSC (Z4 -24 countries) has given me wide experience in communicating within different cultures.
